Bread Uttapam is a Quick, easy and very tasty south Indian breakfast or snack using bread. Uttapam is made with grinding rice, dal and fermenting while this bread uttapam doesn’t need any fermentation, uttapams can be made by combining all the ingredients in the blender and make a nice batter out of it and instantly put on the Tawa and fry them. The tough part of making this recipe was resisting the urge to taste the yummy bread uttapams.

Now let’s see, what are the ingredients and procedure to prepare the Bread Uttapam Recipe.

for batter

  • 3 slices white bread
  • 1/4 cup semolina/sooji
  • 1/4 cup rice flour
  • 1/8 tsp baking soda
  • small piece ginger
  • water to make a batter
  • 1/2 cup yogurt/curd
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • salt to taste

For toppings

  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 finely chopped green chilies
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped cilantro
  • 1 tbsp grated carrot and cabbage

Directions

  1. First, trim the edges of bread
  2. add yogurt, bread, sooji, rice flour, water, and blend it into a smooth batter.
  3. take this batter into a bowl and add grated ginger.
  4. add salt and baking soda to the batter.
  5. if the batter is thick add some water if needed to adjust the consistency.
  6. mix the toppings onion, cilantro, and green chilies
  7. preheat the Tawa
  8. pour the batter on Tawa
  9. add the toppings
  10. add oil all over the uttapams
  11. fry them until it turns to nice golden color on the bottom side.
  12. flip them to other side and add oil.
  13. fry it for 2 mins
  14. nice and fluffy uttapams are ready
  15. serve this uttapam with cashew and groundnut chutney.
